COVID-19 UPDATE

Dear Families of South Summit Pediatrics,

We hope that you are all well and healthy. We are facing an unprecedented time in our lives as we battle COVID-19. As the epidemiology of the virus evolves, we as health care providers must meet that challenge and evolve with the virus.

As of Monday 3/30/20, we will only be seeing sick patients via Telemedicine and via our Drive-Through service. We will still be providing care inside the clinic for Well Child Care, Medication Checks, Lacerations, Casting, and other non-sick related concerns.

Sick visits will be conducted as following:  your provider will contact you via Telemedicine to help you with your concerns. If necessary, your provider may ask you to come in to be seen in our Drive-Through service. The Drive-Through service will be done under our covered entry area. It will be a limited interaction with your physician where they can: check your child's ears, listen to their lungs, and possibly acquire a sample from them for Strep, FLU or RSV.

We feel this change in protocol is necessary to "flatten the curve" of COVID-19 infections in Utah and for the safety of our patients and staff.   We hope you are understanding and sympathetic to this inconvenience as we realize it may add burden to your lives.

We will win this fight against COVID-19, but we have to do it together.

We love you all. Stay safe and healthy.

COVID - 19 Letter to families

Dear South Summit Pediatric Families,

We are open and seeing patientsIt is safe to receive your care here. We are taking precautions to keep you and our facility safe. Starting March 23rd, we will offer TeleMedicine appointments for Medication Checks related to patients having anxiety, depression, ADD, ADHD, and sleep disorders. The following insurances: BCBS, IHC, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Health Choice, IHC Medicaid, Traditional Medicaid, UHC, University of Utah Health, Healthy U, DMBA, EMI Health, and Health EZ have authorized these visits.  However, normal copay, coinsurance, and deductibles still apply. Please contact the clinic for further information.

We currently are NOT accepting walk-in patients. Please call us at 801-553-8300, so we can properly screen the patient to provide the most appropriate care.

Our clinic is requesting that Well Child Checks be scheduled prior to 2 pm and any Sick Visits be scheduled after 2 pm.

If your child has a cough, fever, trouble breathing, AND has been exposed to someone with coronavirus or has recently traveled (within 14 days of symptom onset) to China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Japan, Seattle, New York, Florida, or California, please contact 1-888-374-8824 or 1-800-456-7707.

If your child has a cough or fever, but has not had exposure to the coronavirus, please make an appointment so we can rule out other causes.

We recommend follow all guidelines that have been issued, such as avoiding large group of people, people that are sick and people who have recently travelled. Wash your hands often, cover your cough in your elbow, and do not touch your face. Please also help us keep the number of people in our waiting area at a minimum by having only one parent accompany the child to be seen, if at all possible.

You can find more information at https://coronavirus.utah.gov/ or healtychildren.org. There is a temporary information line at 1-844-422-5224.

Healthychildren.org has advice about how to talk with your children about COVID-19 and how to deal with school and childcare closures.

We are here for you, please do not hesitate to call us for any questions or concerns.
